At the Heart of the City: an Essay in Sound and Image Ethnography
Abstract
This essay only makes sense here when accompanied by the article Photoethnography of the urban space or how to describe the urban world beyond words: presentation of a multimedia essay, included in this issue. It was the starting-point for the audio-visual reflection we presented at the conference that followed the 25th Bilan du Film Ethnographiquein Paris. Our montage was accompanied by a text presenting our approach and entitled Essai d’ethnographie visuelle ou comment cerner le pouls de la place de Catalogne au travers de photographies et d’ambiances sonores.
